Each year, the University of Queensland (UQ) offers more than $16 million across 1,700 scholarships and prizes to support students from all backgrounds. The scholarships recognise academic excellence and help remove barriers to education — whether you’re from a rural, regional or remote area, identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, are an elite athlete, or are overcoming personal challenges. You may be eligible for multiple scholarships.

II. Eligibility
You’re eligible if you:
- – are an international student
– are commencing your first semester at UQ
– are commencing an approved UQ Faculty of Science program (minimum one-year duration). See Terms & Conditions for a full list of approved programs.
And you:
- – have met the conditions of your offer by the scholarship’s closing date (you don’t need to accept your full offer by the scholarship application deadline)
– demonstrate strong academic performance in your previous studies.
III. How to apply
Online applications for Semester 1 2026 commencing students will close at 10:00am AEST on Monday 17 November 2025.
You’ll need: a personal statement demonstrating your capacity to create change and contribute to science. Apply from this link. Use tips for putting together a great application to help you through this process.
IV. Selection criteria
UQ will consider:
- – your academic performance (based on the academic credentials you submitted in your UQ Faculty of Science program application)
- – your capacity to create change and contribute to science (based on the personal statement you submitted in your scholarship application).

UQ will send you an email to confirm they’ve received your application.
