Chevening Scholarships - Study UK 2025

Chevening Scholarships are prestigious international scholarships funded by the UK government, specifically the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organizations. They offer outstanding emerging leaders from around the world the opportunity to pursue a one-year master’s degree in any subject at any UK university. The scholarships cover tuition fees, living expenses, and return airfare to the UK. Recipients are selected based on their leadership potential, academic achievements, and ability to create positive change in their home countries. The program aims to build lasting relationships between the UK and future leaders globally.

Ineligible applications will be rejected, so it is important that you check that you meet our eligibility criteria before you start your application.

To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship you must:

  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
  • Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended.
  • Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at a UK university by the time you submit your application. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK but may be different depending on your course and university choice.
  • Have at least two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience.

The process of selecting Chevening Scholars takes a minimum of eight months from the application deadline to when applicants are conditionally selected for an award. here are the details:

  • +The deadline for applications is 5 November 2024 at 12:00 GMT (midday UK time).
  • Applicants Shortlisted for interview from Mid-February 2025

Chevening Scholarships are designed to fully cover the costs associated with studying a Master’s degree in the UK, including any additional expenses for international students.

Recipients typically receive:

– Full coverage of Master’s tuition fees
– Payment for travel to and from the UK
– Payment for visa application fees
– A monthly living allowance (stipend) for accommodation and expenses, with a higher amount for those studying in London
– An ‘events travel top-up allowance’ to help cover the cost of attending mandatory Chevening events, often held in London

The total value of a Chevening Scholarship is usually around £30,000 for a one-year Master’s program, though the exact amount may vary based on individual circumstances and needs. Stipend amounts are reviewed annually.
