Since 2018, ASEAN Youth Organization organises an annual conference by ASEAN Youth Organization that invites 150-200 young professionals, students, academicians, and youth organization representatives from ASEAN Countries to meet and brainstorm about the region's development, creating policy recommendations for the authorities/ governments, and creating action plans after at regional level. The conference is the medium to enhance regional connectivity of ASEAN youth.

The conference is the medium to enhance regional connectivity of ASEAN youth.
AYC 2021 seeks to gather 150 ASEAN youth leaders and change-makers from the region who are keen to share their thoughts about challenges and opportunities and create policy recommendations to the ASEAN Secretariat regarding their chosen pillar. ASEAN Youth Organization (AYO) recognizes the youth as catalysts for change and development.
ASEAN Youth Conference will be held online 3 consecutive days from 8th to 10th October 2021. The theme of the ASEAN Youth Conference “Resilience in Motion.” This conference will be the youth’s contribution in implementing the agenda for peace, stability, solidarity, unity, prosperity and sustainability in ASEAN in accordance with Brunei Darussalam’s chairmanship of ASEAN, “We Care, We Prepare, We Prosper.”
This conference will gather high-level speakers and practitioners from three pillars of ASEAN and will have the opportunity to gather with other youths from other countries and learn from the experts who will act as the group facilitators. The topic of discussion will be based on the three pillars of ASEAN with the following focus:
The ASEAN Youth Conference is usually conducted in the country which holds the chairmanship of ASEAN. This year, however, AYC will be conducted fully virtual considering the current situation. The AYC 2021 will have the theme “Resilience in Motion” which aligns with Brunei Darussalam’s theme of Chairmanship: “We Care, We Prepare, We Prosper.” AYC will be conducted through multidimensional workshops and interactive activities to get participants involved in formulating policy recommendations to be submitted in ASEAN Summit which will be conducted in October 2021.

ASEAN Youth Conference 2021 will have a mixture of Webinars, FGD Session, Networking Session, and Panel Discussion to keep the participants engaged and create an interactive event in which participants can play a bigger role rather than just attending an event.
Therefore, we created a specific program flow to make this a special event. In the first day of the conference, delegates will spectate opening remarks from AYC 2021 Project Director, Executive Director of AYO, and the Secretary General of ASEAN, H.E. Dato Lim Jock Hoi (TBC), and two Keynote speeches from our guests of honor to have a deeper understanding first about AYC and ASEAN.

Bottom-left of the screen is the Honorary Iswandy Ahmad, a Member of Brunei Legislative Council. Followed by Ms. Rodora Babaran, Director of the Human Development at ASEAN Secretariat, and Ms. Agatha Lydia Natania, the Executive Director of ASEAN Youth Organization.
On 9 October 2021, the participants proceeded to the main program of the event, a webinar on the three main topics of AYC 2021 and two Focus Group Discussions. The participants were divided into three breakout rooms according to their preferred topic of the program: ASEAN Economic Community, ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, and ASEAN Political-Security Community
Picture 2.1 is the screenshot from the breakout room of the ASEAN Political-Security Community led by the Trustee of Guevara Foundation, Regine Guevara. She talked about how crucial it is for the youths to take a lead in the political sector as they will definitely lead the new generations.
Picture 2.2 shows Dr. Wanamina Bostan Ali, talks about the economic growth of ASEAN and how ASEAN could recover from the pandemic.
Picture 2.3 is the screenshot of ASCC’s Breakout Room, Ms. Melody Melo-Rijk mainly talks about food sustainability, the importance of recycling food waste, and how it has been so far overseen by many people.
Picture 3.1 and 3.2 remarks the closing ceremony of AYC 2021 with a panel session with Alessandro Reali, Secretary-General of Global Action Italy; Malou Eudela, Disaster Rehability and Recovery Planning; and Gaurav Verma, Founder of Dojoko Foundation.
Jayren Teo, the AYO 2020-2022 President, in the Picture 3.2 gives a final remark to officially close AYC 2021.
The participants came up with a set of policy recommendations that are addressed to each of the topics of their choice. The set of policies then was polished by the AYC 2021 Committee and sent to the ASEAN Secretariat for considerations on making upcoming policies.
