How AYO support youth development in the region?

Since the establishment of AYO, we have already created more than 350 projects in Southeast Asia related to Youth Empowerment, Education, Environment, and ASEAN Development. Starting in 2021, when AYO contributed to the development of the ASEAN Work Plan on Youth 2021-2025, an official meeting with International organizations and the ASEAN Member States, where AYO mandated 4 key priorities program which are:

  1. Participation and Engagement
  2. Employment and Opportunity
  3. Health and Well-being
  4. Gig Economy

With the mentioned priorities from ASEAN and our cause to support the Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs, AYO is committed to supporting youth development in the region and beyond guided by the ASEAN Work Plan on Youth Priorities and SDGs.

Is AYO under ASEAN?

AYO has been recognised and supported by the ASEAN Secretariat formally since 2018. Since then we have continued support from the ASEAN Secretariat in every project, programme and initiative also we received the approval to add the ASEAN logo and all ASEAN Member States flags to the AYO official logo. The recognition from the ASEAN Prize continued until this year when AYO received the prestigious ASEAN Prize 2024 and is expected to receive the ASEAN Prize 2024 during the ASEAN Meeting 2024 in Lao PDR in front of all the ASEAN Member States leaders. At the same time, AYO is also in the process of submitting a request to be one of the ASEAN entities.

How many impacts AYO created?

It has been 11 years, since its establishment, from 2013 and this year of 2024. AYO already initiated and organised more than 350 Activities, with more than 1.500.000 Direct & Indirect Impacts and has more than 4.500 members and alumni. With our continued support from our partners and networks, we have collected more than 800.000 USD in total funding. AYO also has a strong social media presence with more than 1.000.000 media reach monthly.

Who is the Founder of AYO?

ASEAN Youth Organization was founded on August 13th, 2013, by Senjaya Mulia known as Jay from Indonesia with his friend from Cambodia. Coming from a province of Central Java in Indonesia, he is active in regional youth engagement activities on social media, which brought him to establish the organization, which has successfully run in more than 14 countries and implemented more than 300 projects involving youths.

How can I apply?

Applications can be submitted through the official ASEAN Youth Exchange website. Applicants need to complete an online form, provide a personal statement, and submit a CV, Motivation letter, proof of commitment fee payment, and necessary documents.

What are the criteria for the selection of AYDF Delegates?

  1. Individuals of ASEAN and Timor Leste nationalities, aged between 18 and 35 years old are eligible to apply.
  2. Proficiency in both written and spoken English is a requirement as the sessions will take place in English.
  3. Applicants should have received a minimum of two doses of COVID-19 vaccination.
  4. Differently, abled individuals are strongly encouraged to submit their applications.
  5. Entrepreneurs working in any sector of the digital economy are encouraged to apply. Additionally, educational background in domains like Business Studies, Management, Digital Business technology, AI,  Business analytics etc are encouraged to apply.
  6. People working in startups/SMEs or MSMEs focused on digital economy-related sectors and activities are also encouraged to apply.
  7. Candidates should possess a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience and must either be currently employed in institutions related to the digital economy, youth entrepreneurship, and intellectual property rights or be pursuing a post-graduation degree or above in a related field.
  8. Candidates must be willing to commit to developing 1 training session (group) for the business community within 6 months.

Is there any fee to attend the AYC?

ASEAN Youth Conference is a paid program with prices varying on application dates (early bird, first wave and final wave). However, we do provide partial scholarships, please stay tuned.

Please note that we are a non-profit organisation, so the registration fee will be all allocated for the implementation of the programme, it’s for youth, by youth and with youth.

Who should apply?

We are looking for passionate young ASEAN Youth Leaders who are fitted for the following criteria:

  • Citizens of any ASEAN and Timor Leste youth between the ages of 15-23 years old.
  • Be able to commit at least 6 months to the program.
  • Demonstrate leadership potential and community involvement.
  • Exhibit flexibility, maturity, integrity, good social skills, and open-mindedness.
