Manama, Bahrain – October 1, 2024 – The ASEAN Youth Organization (AYO) has been awarded the esteemed Arab World Youth Council Award in the “Enablers” category for organizations and institutions, recognizing its impactful contribution to youth development and volunteerism in Southeast Asia. The ceremony was graced by the presence of His Excellency Osama Bin Ahmed Al-Asfoor, the Minister of Social Development, and His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and Honorary President of the Good Word Society, along with a host of dignitaries and prominent figures from Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab world.
The award was proudly received by AYO Founder, Senjaya Mulia—known as Jay—an Indonesian youth from Semarang, Indonesia, along with Strategy and Cooperation Director Dai Shaoling and Engagement Director Robi Kate Miranda.

Jay, who founded the ASEAN Youth Organization, was recognized for his significant efforts in promoting meaningful youth engagement in Southeast Asia. AYO is currently the largest youth organization in the region, focused on empowering youth through volunteerism, leadership, and economic initiatives aligned with the goals of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
In addition to AYO, Jay also founded a social enterprise that has been active for five years in the fields of education, research, media, and the environment, further cementing his commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development.
AYO’s work in organizing youth conferences, digital and economic forums, and development programs has played a key role in strengthening volunteer networks not only within Southeast Asia but also globally, including partnerships with Japan, China, India, Italy, and other countries. These initiatives have helped mobilize youth to contribute to ASEAN’s objectives of regional collaboration and development.
“This award is not only for the ASEAN Youth Organization or me, but for all Youth in the region, it is also a reminder for all of us to stay positive and active in creating more sustainable impacts in our community through volunteerism,” said Jay upon accepting the award.

The Arab World Youth Council Award highlights the importance of youth-led initiatives that foster creativity, leadership, and problem-solving in addressing social challenges. With total funding valued at USD 160,000, the award recognizes youth organizations and institutions that create impactful solutions and empower young people across various sectors.
The Arab Council for Youth Award is held in collaboration with the Arab Youth Council, the Arab Volunteers Union, the United Nations, and the Arab League, celebrating youth leaders and organizations that are transforming communities and creating pathways to a brighter future.
