Australia Awards Fellowship Scholarships 2025

The Australia Awards Fellowships offer Australian organizations the opportunity to develop leadership skills and build professional networks through short-term fellowships. Fellowships focus on priority development areas and strengthen the relationships between Australia and partner countries.

Only Australian organizations (government institutions, businesses, and NGOs) with an Australian Business Number (ABN) can apply. These organizations must have links with partner organizations in participating countries and provide in-kind or financial contributions to support the Fellowships. Individuals cannot apply.

The program is open to participants from the following regions:

  • Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam
  • South Asia and Middle East: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iraq, Jordan, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Sri Lanka
  • Pacific: Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu
  • Africa: Botswana, DRC, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe
  • Caribbean: Belize, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Suriname
  • Europe: Ukraine

To apply for the Australia Awards Scholarship, candidates must visit the official website to access details about:

  • Participating Countries: List of eligible countries.
  • Opening and Closing Dates: Application deadlines.
  • Participating Institutions: List of universities and TAFE institutions involved.

Fellowships must align with one of the following development areas:

  1. Climate change, resilience, and green energy transition.
  2. Gender equality, disability equity, and social inclusion.
  3. Health.
  4. Digital economy and cyber resilience.
  5. Maritime and blue economy.
  6. Infrastructure and connectivity.

Applications for Round 20 are open and must be submitted online through Smartygrants.

  • Application Deadline: 13 October 2024, 11:59 PM (AEST).
  • Applications via email or fax will not be accepted.

Key Dates

  • 2 September 2024: Applications open.
  • 13 October 2024: Applications close.
  • May 2025: Outcome notifications and grant payments begin.
  • July 2025: Fellowship mobilization in Australia starts.
