Metropoli’s Vietnam Project receives Best Project Award at 2024 Smart City Expo World Congress in Hangzhou,China

The 2024 Smart City Expo World Congress · Hangzhou Stage has concluded with great success, uniting over 150 international organizations from 18 countries, nearly 200 global smart city leaders, and more than 70 city delegations. With the theme “Converge! Blooming Our Business in Transition, “the event showcased the latest advancements in smart city technology while promoting cross-border collaboration and innovation.  Vietnam was represented by Academy of Managers of Construction & Cities – Vietnam Ministry of Construction (MOC) and Vietnam Smart City Consortium.

The event also hosted the 2024 Region* & China Smart City Awards (powered by the World Smart City Awards in Barcalona, Spain), recognizing excellence in categories such as City, Enterprise, Best Projects (X-SDI), and Leadership.

Among the winners, the Diamond City Project in Hung Yen Province, Vietnam received the Best Project Award ( X-SDI) by Metropoli for its innovation strategy  with a global corporate campus masterplan and smart urban planning for Ecopark.

Metropoli is a company that created an ecosystem of innovation to transform cities around the world, based in Madrid under the leadership of Dr Alfonso Vegara, who is a thought leader engaged by global governments from Spain to Singapore to provide his vision in shaping sustainable cities combining ‘digital intelligentsia and urban strategies’.

Shanmuga Retnam, Special Advisor ( Indochina ) for Metropoli received the award in Hangzhou and shared Metropoli’s participatory process as an important aspect in delivering a world class project in Vietnam. “We hope this award will encourage the global community to engage Vietnam and participate in the country’s efforts to develop sustainable and liveable environment for our communities’ remarked Retnam at the sidelines of the Hangzhou Stage.      

The China Smart City Awards attracted 166 proposals from 45 cities across China, while the Region Awards received 149 proposals from 9 countries, reflecting the diversity and growth of the global smart city ecosystem
