The ASEAN Youth Organization strongly believes in the importance of encouraging and supporting young people’s and in particular young women’s aspirations. With this in mind, The ASEAN Youth Organization respectively organized a  forum with the theme of “Womenpreneurs for ASEAN Developmentin collaboration with the Canadian Mission to ASEAN. 

The forum was facilitated an exchange of information, experiences and ideas, hosted leading business men and women, Non-government Organizations and community leaders speaking on best business practice, investment potentials and growth areas in their respective ASEAN countries; fostering the confidence of the young people in attendance and encouraging their entrepreneurial spirit. 

The forum raised the profile of young people and women entrepreneurs as catalyst’s of ASEAN’s progressive social and economic growth, placing a major focus on the promotion and enhancement of roles for young female entrepreneurs in the South East Asia Economic Community.

Outcome

The event was not only be a panel discussion to promote gender equality and human rights but also to discuss the strategic solutions for ASEAN development especially in the economic community. Around 120 Women Leaders, Entrepreneurs, Activist, Government officials, and youths members were attended this forum. The vide of the event was streamed by more than 600 people.

The Keynote speech was delivered by Ms. Sabine Machl, UN Women, and the event was opened by Senjaya Mulia, Founder of ASEAN Youth Organization, H.E. Dr. Aladdin D. Rillo, the Deputy Secretary-General ASEAN Economic Community and H.E. Ambassador Diedrah Kelly, the Ambassador of Canada to ASEAN.
