As this Roundtable Discussion is the pre-event of the upcoming Summit in February, may I still register for this event even though I’m unsure if I can attend the Summit?
Yes, definitely. You are still welcome to register for the event as long as you meet the requirements.
Can I donate to AYO?

A background related to Business, Management, Digital Business Technology, Artificial Intelligence and any related studies would be a plus, but anyone with any background can still register for this program as long as you have the interest to learn more about digital economy, youth entrepreneurship, and intellectual property rights!

How AYO support youth development in the region?
Since the establishment of AYO, we have already created more than 350 projects in Southeast Asia related to Youth Empowerment, Education, Environment, and ASEAN Development. Starting in 2021, when AYO contributed to the development of the ASEAN Work Plan on Youth 2021-2025, an official meeting with International organizations and the ASEAN Member States, where AYO mandated 4 key priorities program which are:

How do I join an AYO event?

How long I will receive my e-certificate?
The e-certificate will be sent via email a maximum of 14 days after the event. If you do not receive the e-certificate within 14 days, please send an email to the person in charge to the project you joined, or program@aseanyouth.net
How long the program gonna take?
The total duration of the AYO Ambassador Program is 6 months, including 2 months of Recruitment and campaign, 2 months of Training, and 2 months of Project Implementation.
How long will I receive the certificate?
For both participants and delegates of AYDF 2023, certificates will be sent approximately one month after the event concludes.
How long will the conference take place?
The conference will last for 3 days conference. 5 days and 4 nights, if includes arrival and departure day.

The AYDF will span 3 days, taking place from November 15-17, 2023, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. But, the Fully Funded Delegates are required to arrive 1 day before the event start (14 November) and leave 1 day after the program finish (18 November).
How many impacts AYO created?
It has been 11 years, since its establishment, from 2013 and this year of 2024. AYO already initiated and organised more than 350 Activities, with more than 1.500.000 Direct & Indirect Impacts and has more than 4.500 members and alumni. With our continued support from our partners and networks, we have collected more than 800.000 USD in total funding. AYO also has a strong social media presence with more than 1.000.000 media reach monthly.

How to join AYO
All young people between the ages of 15 and 35 who have an interest in ASEAN and Southeast Asia, in general; support the objectives of AYO are welcome to join ASEAN Youth Organization as members. We have 3 types of memberships and you can apply directly.
How to join AYO events or projects?
AYO Events are open to all of YOUth, feel free to join the event based on your interest. Some events will have requirements to join and participate, you have to fulfill the requirements to join them. Our events/projects will be published on our social media pages and published on our Event page.
How to obtain a certificate with AYO?
AYO provides a certificate of appreciation by joining our events or activities. There are many types of event or activity. Every project have its own regulations and requirements. Some of our events or activities will provide a e-certificate and some of them are not. So, please check the detail of each event you join.
How will I be notified if I am selected for the program?
Notification of the selection result will be communicated to each recipient via email.

I am an ASEAN or a Japanese citizen, but currently, I’m not based in ASEAN or Japan countries. Can I still register for this program?
You can, but we only cover flights from ASEAN countries or Japan. Outside these countries, you have to cover the flight ticket.

Yes, this program is also designed for every youth with various backgrounds. As long as you are interested in Youth Development, have willingness to learn, and age between 15-21 years old, you can apply this program.

Absolutely. We strongly encourage individuals with disabilities to apply.
I have an organization already, can I join the program?
Yes, you may apply to this program, but please ensure your organization age is at most 1 year.

I just started my startup/company/MSME, am I still eligible to register?
Definitely! As long as you are a young woman who has established profitable businesses, including from MSME industries and social enterprises in the ASEAN Member States and/or Japan or who is the CEO of enterprises using e-commerce or tech startups from urban and rural regions in ASEAN Member States and/or Japan, you are eligible to apply for this event.

Is AYO under ASEAN?
AYO has been recognised and supported by the ASEAN Secretariat formally since 2018. Since then we have continued support from the ASEAN Secretariat in every project, programme and initiative also we received the approval to add the ASEAN logo and all ASEAN Member States flags to the AYO official logo. The recognition from the ASEAN Prize continued until this year when AYO received the prestigious ASEAN Prize 2024 and is expected to receive the ASEAN Prize 2024 during the ASEAN Meeting 2024 in Lao PDR in front of all the ASEAN Member States leaders. At the same time, AYO is also in the process of submitting a request to be one of the ASEAN entities.
Is full attendance mandatory throughout the forum duration?
Yes, full attendance is required. Delegates must also commit to developing one training session for the business community within six months after the forum.
Is it mandatory to attend full days of the event?
Yes, delegates will only receive certificates only if they attend full sessions of the conference.
Is it paid?
Yes. The commitment fee is $5 and the registration fee (depends on which package you choose). All currencies are in USD or in Indonesian Rupiah and payment only proceeds on the AYO website.
Is proficiency in English mandatory for participants?
Yes, delegates must be proficient in both written and spoken English.
Is there a dress code for the conference?
Business and formal attire are required throughout the event. Please also prepare to bring your national costume for the cultural night.
Is there an age limit to joining the AYC?
AYC Delegates are all required to be the age of 18 years old until 35 years old. If you are above 35 years old, you are welcome to join AYC as an observer.
Is there an age limit to joining the conference?
The Applicants can be from any nationality in the age group of 17 to 35.
Is there any airport transfer for Public Forum 1 participants?
The airport transfer or shuttle route is only from the airport (KLIA 1 or KLIA 2) to the Sunway Resort Hotel, Selangor Malaysia. If you stay in another hotel, you may consider another transportation option.
Is there any fee to attend the AYC?
ASEAN Youth Conference is a paid program with prices varying on application dates (early bird, first wave and final wave). However, we do provide partial scholarships, please stay tuned.
Please note that we are a non-profit organisation, so the registration fee will be all allocated for the implementation of the programme, it’s for youth, by youth and with youth.

Is this program designed for people with Disability?
We encourage youth with disability to apply to the program, so please let us know when you apply to the program and share with us what kind of assistance you need during the program if you are accepted as one of the ambassadors.
May I resign from the program?
Due to particular circumstances, the Ambassador is allowed to take leave (Maximum one month) or resign from the program by providing request letters from parents, guardians, lecturers, schools, or supervisors. The letter should be addressed to project@aseanyouth.net with the subject AAP23 Resignation Request. Upon resignation, all access to information, data, training, and support will be deleted, and ambassadors are not eligible to receive a Certificate of Completion.
Membership Types in AYO
We have 3 types of Memberships in the ASEAN Youth Organization.
- Volunteer Membership. This is a FREE membership. You can simply register on our platform and you will receive updates from our organization about our events and activities.
- APRO Membership. To become an APRO Member, you have to pay a membership fee 20USD per year. We provide special program waiver for any paid event in ASEAN Youth Organization. You will also received more benefits for being an APRO Member. This memberships will be available on October 2023.
- Activator Membership. Activator Membership is the committee member of ASEAN Youth Organization. You can be an Activator after you passed the recruitment process. You may find more information here. Every Activator Member have to pay ACF (Activator Contribution Fund) with an amount of 10USD in the beginning of the term. There will be some assignments and tasks/responsibilities for each Activator.

What are the activities of the AYO Ambassador program?
- Attending the ASEAN Youth Training conducted by the organisation for at least 80% of the total training, including but not limited to:
- Project Plan
- Project Management
- SDGs Class
- Monitoring and Evaluation
- Mentoring with the respective mentors to guide during the program and project implementation
- Expand their outreach programs in universities, other organisations, and local districts to expand their impact on the local or international community.
- Connect to other students and youth leaders in their area(s) to AYO.
- Assist in publicising AYO events in the respective affiliated institutions and on various social media platforms
- Plan and execute at least 1 event in the community, city, region, or country.
- Implement and create a program of their choice through the help and guidance of the AYO Team and be able to create an impact on their targeted community.

What are the benefits of joining AYC 2023?
ASEAN Youth Conference is an annual flagship program organized by ASEAN Youth Organization. Delegates who take part in this prestigious event not only will have the chance to interact with a diverse pool of young, talented, and energetic young adults in ASEAN but also offer an opportunity to prepare a youth declaration that will be submitted to the ASEAN Secretariat. What are the criteria for the selection of AYDF Delegates?
- Individuals of ASEAN and Timor Leste nationalities, aged between 18 and 35 years old are eligible to apply.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English is a requirement as the sessions will take place in English.
- Applicants should have received a minimum of two doses of COVID-19 vaccination.
- Differently, abled individuals are strongly encouraged to submit their applications.
- Entrepreneurs working in any sector of the digital economy are encouraged to apply. Additionally, educational background in domains like Business Studies, Management, Digital Business technology, AI, Business analytics etc are encouraged to apply.
- People working in startups/SMEs or MSMEs focused on digital economy-related sectors and activities are also encouraged to apply.
- Candidates should possess a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience and must either be currently employed in institutions related to the digital economy, youth entrepreneurship, and intellectual property rights or be pursuing a post-graduation degree or above in a related field.
- Candidates must be willing to commit to developing 1 training session (group) for the business community within 6 months.

What is the difference between “participant” and “delegate”?
Participants will attend the Public Forum on Day 1 only, whereas Delegates will participate in all three days of the event. Delegates are fully funded by the organizers and should attend the entire programs from 15-17 November.
What is the difference between fully funded and partially funded?
Fully funded will cover all the needs during the program including hotel, meals, meeting package, merchandise, local transportation, airport transfer, and site visit. Meanwhile, partially funded will not cover the flight ticket.

Every alumnus of the AYO Ambassador program will be required to sign a Mutual Agreement with the ASEAN. The ASEAN Youth Organization will keep supporting the Ambassador and assist in the Ambassador Program’s growth and sustainability.

Who is the Founder of AYO?
ASEAN Youth Organization was founded on August 13th, 2013, by Senjaya Mulia known as Jay from Indonesia with his friend from Cambodia. Coming from a province of Central Java in Indonesia, he is active in regional youth engagement activities on social media, which brought him to establish the organization, which has successfully run in more than 14 countries and implemented more than 300 projects involving youths.
