Taiwan ICDF Scholarship

Brief Information

International education and training has long been one of the TaiwanICDF’s core operations, among many others. Human resources development programs play a vital role in assisting partner countries achieve sustainable development, and education is a crucial mechanism for training workforces in developing countries. The TaiwanICDF provides scholarships for higher education and has developed undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. programs in cooperation with renowned partner universities in Taiwan.

The TaiwanICDF has established the Taiwan International Cooperation Alliance (TICA) with 23 partner universities, setting up an operational platform under this TICA framework to manage and improve the scholarship program. In 2024, there are 29 programs offered for TaiwanICDF Scholarship application. More information about each of the programs offered in 2024, please refer to their individual website.

The total scholarship, including airfare (round-trip), housing, tuition, credit fees, insurance, textbook costs and a monthly allowance will be provided by the TaiwanICDF to each student within his/her given award period.

Be a citizen of a country on the List of Countries Eligible for TaiwanICDF Scholarship, and satisfy any specific criteria established by his or her country and/or government of citizenship.
Neither be a national of the Republic of China (Taiwan) nor an overseas compatriot student.
Satisfy the admission requirements of the partner university to which he or she has applied to study under a TaiwanICDF scholarship.
Be able to satisfy all requirements for a Resident Visa (Code: FS) set by the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) set by the Ministry of the Interior, of the ROC (Taiwan) government (this means that the TaiwanICDF has the right to revoke a scholarship offered if an applicant cannot satisfy the visa requirements).
Upon accepting a TaiwanICDF scholarship, not hold any other ROC (Taiwan) government-sponsored scholarship (such as the Taiwan Scholarship) in the same academic year in which the TaiwanICDF scholarship would be due to commence.
Not be applying for another TaiwanICDF scholarship in unbroken succession to apply for a 2024 scholarship, applicants who have already held a TaiwanICDF scholarship, MOFA’s Taiwan Scholarship or an MOE scholarship must have graduated before July 31, 2023.
Provide the highest-level diploma before July 31,2024. Applicants unable to obtain the certificate by this date may instead apply for next year’s scholarship.
Have never had any scholarship revoked by any ROC (Taiwan) government agency or related institution, nor been expelled from any Taiwanese university

Romanian Government Scholarship

Brief Information

Each year, the Romanian Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, provides a number of scholarships to citizens from non-EU countries. Only candidates having good results in education, respectively an average of the study years, for the last graduated school, of at least 7 (seven) corresponding to the scoring system in Romania or the Good score, as the case, are eligible.

Applicants may select their study program of interest in all fields, with the exception of Medicine, Dental Medicine and Pharmacy. For Bachelor and Master, only study programs in Romanian are available, thus promoting the Romanian language and culture. However, at PhD level, applicants can also opt for a program in English or a foreign language set by the doctoral school. A preparatory year in Romanian is also granted prior to enrolling in the study program of choice, for those not speaking Romanian. The required documents include diplomas, transcripts, birth certificate and passport, CV – all described in the application process.
Applications can be submitted only via the online platform, between 16 January 2024 and 16 March 2024, with the selection results being announced around 15 July 2024. Upon selection, additional formalities, such as obtaining a visa, will be required.

financing tuition fees;
financing the accommodation expenses in the dormitories through the budget of the Ministry of Education, within the limit of the subsidy allocated for this purpose (accommodation will be provided to the extent of available places have, scholarship holders having the obligation to contact the host university to find out the accommodation conditions);
granting a monthly financial aid, as follows: the equivalent in ”lei” (the Romanian currency) of the amount of 65 EURO, for undergraduate and preparatory year students; the equivalent in ”lei” (the Romanian currency) of the amount of 75 EURO, for master students, the equivalent in ”lei” (the Romanian currency) of the amount of 85 EURO, for PhD students.

Foreign citizens from all non-EU countries, with the following exceptions:

citizens of Romanian origin or who are part of the Romanian historical communities in the proximity of Romania (entitled to different scholarship programmes);
citizens who have requested or acquired a form of protection in Romania;
stateless persons whose stay on the territory of Romania is officially recognized according to the law;
members of the diplomatic and consular corps or family members of the diplomatic and consular corps accredited to Romania;
members of the administrative and technical staff of diplomatic missions and consular offices accredited to Romania;
staff members of international organizations based in Romania or family members of staff of international organizations based in Romania;
beneficiaries of a scholarship from the Romanian state for the same cycle of study.

To be eligible, the scholarship applicant must:
- submit a complete file;
- present study documents issued by accredited/recognized education institutions in the country where they were issued;
- comply with the enrolment deadline;
- have good results in education, respectively an average of the study years, for the last graduated school of at least 7 (seven) corresponding to the scoring system in Romania or the “Good” score, as the case;
- comply with the application submission methodology.

UNSW: International Scientia Coursework Scholarship

Brief Information

The globally recognised and prestigious Scientia Scholarship is our flagship scholarship for students with high academic achievement and leadership skills who are engaged in extracurricular work and are passionate about studying at UNSW.

Receive full tuition fee support for the duration of your degree or receive a $20,000 contribution (per year) to tuition fees.

Offer 1: Full tuition fee scholarship paid directly towards tuition fees for the minimum duration of the program

- Undergraduate or postgraduate Letter of Offer (unconditional); or

Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program

Brief Information

Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP): Since 1987, JJ/WBGSP has enabled more than 6,000 mid-career professionals from 160 developing countries and Japan to complete graduate degrees in development-related fields. On an annual basis, the Government of Japan solely funds the JJ/WBGSP.

The JJ/WBGSP scholarship provides the recipient with the following benefits:

Economy class air travel between your home country and the host university at the start of your study program and immediately following the end of the scholarship period. In addition to the two-way air travel, scholars will receive a US $500 travel allowance for each trip;
Tuition for your graduate program and the cost of basic medical insurance obtained through the university.
While on campus during the scholarship period, a monthly subsistence allowance to cover all living expenses (accommodations, food, etc., including books). The amount of the allowance varies depending on the host country.

Please note all JJ/WBGSP scholarships cover the duration of the graduate program or two years, whichever is less.

The JJ/WBGSP scholarship does not cover:

Visa application(s) costs
Expenses to bring and/or support a scholar’s family members;
Extra-curricular courses or training;
Courses that do not meet the minimum credits required to earn the graduate degree;
Language training not provided by the graduate program;
Additional travel during the course of the study program;
Expenses related to research, supplementary educational materials, field trips, participation in workshops/seminars, or internships; or
Educational equipment such as computers.

Note: The JJ/WBGSP scholarship may only supplement, and does not duplicate, any other source of financial support/fellowship you might have. If you are notified to be a semi-finalist or if you are awarded a scholarship, you must inform and document to the JJ/WBGSP Secretariat at that time if you have other sources of scholarship funds.

Be a national of a World Bank member developing country on this list;
Not hold dual citizenship of any developed country;
Be in good health;
Hold a bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree earned at least 3 years prior to the Application Deadline date;
Be employed in development-related work in a paid full- time position at the time of submitting the scholarship application. Have at least 3 years of paid development-related employment since earning a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent university degree) and acquired within the past 6 years from the date of the application deadline. Please see FAQs—Window 1 on how to count qualified part time employment toward this 3-year requirement. Please see Annex 2 of the Application Guidelines for a suggested list of development-related topics. The only exception to this criterion is for developing country nationals from a country that is on the list of Fragile and Conflict States featured in Annex 3 of the Application Guidelines. In such cases, we do take into consideration the limited employment opportunities in those countries.
On or before the scholarship application deadline date, be admitted unconditionally (except for funding) for the upcoming academic year to at least one of the JJ/WBGSP participating master’s programs located outside of the applicant’s country of citizenship and country of residence listed at the time the call for scholarship applications opens. The letter of admission must be uploaded before submitting the scholarship application. For details, see “How to Apply”.
Not be an Executive Director, his/her alternate, and/or staff of any type of appointment of the World Bank Group or a close relative of the aforementioned by blood or adoption with the term “close relative” defined as: Mother, Father, Sister, Half-sister, Brother, Half-brother, Son, Daughter, Aunt, Uncle, Niece, or Nephew.
Individuals who have previously been offered a JJ/WBGSP scholarship but declined it, or have previously received a JJ/WBGSP scholarship but did not graduate, are not eligible to apply again.

Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program

Brief Information

The World Bank’s Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program (RSMFP) matches aspiring development economics researchers from developing countries with World Bank research economists, creating unique opportunities for the fellows to participate in rigorous policy-relevant research in the World Bank’s Development Economics Vice Presidency (DEC). Fellows will be hosted at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. for 8 months (September to May each year) and work under the supervision of researchers in the World Bank’s Development Impact (DIME) and Development Research Group departments, engaging in high-quality and policy-relevant research projects.

By working with World Bank DEC researchers and their external academic collaborators from top universities, fellows will learn current research standards, acquire new econometric skills, and network with leading researchers in their field. They will have a unique opportunity to participate in rigorous policy-relevant research and widen their perspective on potential development questions, and how their research can address challenges in the developing world.

The RSMFP provides a competitive compensation of $46,500, net of income taxes, for the 2023-24 cohort, distributed monthly throughout the 8-month fellowship. As fellows will be based at the World Bank in Washington D.C., the World Bank’s HR Operations unit will support selected candidates in their G4 visa application. It’s important to note that the fellowship does not include coverage for travel expenses.

Applications for the 2024 cohort are open from February 1 to February 28, 2024.

To be considered for the RSMFP, applicants must be:

Nationals of World Bank WBG member countries, with preference to nationals of developing countries;
Fluent in English;
Graduates of master’s level studies or currently pursuing a PhD in Economics or a related field;
No more than 35 years of age (by June 30 2024);
Available to relocate to Washington, D.C. for the duration of the fellowship.

Türkiye Burslari Scholarship

For many years, Türkiye has been providing scholarship opportunities to international students and researchers from all over the world.Higher education scholarship programs provided by Turkey were branded as “Türkiye Scholarships” in 2012 and studies were started to be carried out under the coordination of Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities(YTB).Türkiye Scholarships are carried out in cooperation with all relevant institutions such as YÖK, Yurt – Kur, General Directorate of Migration Management and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Türkiye Scholarships has designed different and specific scholarship programs for each education level. The Banach Scholarship

Brief Information

The NAWA Scholarship Program aims to enhance the socio-economic progress of developing countries by providing scholarships for second-degree studies in various fields at Polish universities. The program, supervised by the Minister of Education and Science, focuses on engineering, technical sciences, agricultural sciences, exact sciences, and life sciences. Eligible countries include Albania, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, and others. In certain countries, candidates can pursue studies in humanities and social sciences. The initiative is a collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, merging existing scholarship programs for young individuals from developing nations interested in studying in Poland.

The programme offers:

monthly scholarship of the Agency Director, during the statutory period of education,
exemption from fees for education at public universities.

Financial conditions of education at private universities supervised by the Minister of Education and Science are determined by the universities. In such cases, the issue of payment for studies should be agreed individually between the Scholarship Holder and the private university hosting them. The matter of exemptions from education fees remains within the competence of the private university hosting the student.

The scholarship is paid during the statutory period of education for a maximum of 12 months in the academic year, starting from the first month of studies.

The scholarship amounts to PLN 1,500 per month during second-cycle studies.

During their studies, scholarship holders also receive:

the first monthly scholarship will be increased by a mobility allowance in the amount of PLN 1,000 or PLN 3,000 (the amount depends on the country of arrival – detailed information can be found in Appendix 4)^[3].
in the last year of studies, the last monthly scholarship increased by PLN 500.

In the event of a documented fortuitous event, the Agency Director may, at the written request of the Scholarship Holder, increase the scholarship paid once by PLN 500.

The Agency Director’s scholarship is paid through the university where the Scholarship Holder is studying.

Application for the Banach Scholarship Program will be open in 2024.

Eligibility Criteria for Scholarship Application:

Applicants must be citizens of specific countries including Albania, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Lebanon, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Palestine, Peru, Philippines, Senegal, Serbia, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam;
Applicants should not have Polish citizenship or have applied for Polish citizenship.
They must have commenced their second-cycle studies in the winter semester of the academic year 2023/24, being first-year, first-semester students at a Polish university.
At the time of application, candidates should possess a first-cycle diploma obtained in Poland or the Programme country in the specified fields, dated no earlier than 2021. For candidates from Europe, Central Asia, and the South Caucasus, first-cycle diplomas in social sciences and humanities are accepted if obtained in Poland or the Programme country, dated no earlier than 2021.
Applicants should not have previously obtained a diploma for completion of second-cycle studies or uniform master’s studies. However, candidates from countries without a common two-cycle study system are eligible if they hold a master’s degree or equivalent.

Ministry of Education – Taiwan Scholarship

Brief Information

The Ministry of Education (MOE) Taiwan Scholarship Program provides tuition and miscellaneous expenses of up to NTD 40,000 each semester and a monthly living allowance of NTD 15,000 or NTD 20,000. A Taiwan Scholarship may be held for 4 years for undergraduate programs, 2 years for master’s degree programs, and 4 years for doctorate programs. Scholarship applications must be submitted to a Republic of China (ROC) overseas mission and applicants must apply separately to a university or college in Taiwan for admission.

The MOE Taiwan Scholarship Program provides the following for
    each outstanding international student scholarship recipient
    who comes to Taiwan to undertake a bachelor’s degree,
    master’s degree, or doctorate:

    (i) Tuition and miscellaneous expenses (i.e. the course-credit
        fees, and miscellaneous basic study-related fees): The
        MOE will pay up to NTD 40,000 each semester for each
        recipient’s approved tuition and miscellaneous expenses.
        If these exceed a total amount of NTD40,000, the remaining
        amount must be paid to the university/college by the
        student. The “miscellaneous expenses” do not include
        any of the following: administration fees, thesis
        supervision fees, insurance premiums, accommodation, or
        internet access. These are all the responsibility of the
        scholarship recipient.

    (ii) Living allowance: The MOE provides each recipient
         undertaking university undergraduate studies a monthly
         stipend of NTD15,000; it provides each recipient
         undertaking a master’s degree or doctorate studies a
         monthly stipend of NTD20,000.
