If you receive a partially-funded offer, it’s definitely appropriate to inquire with the organizers about the possibility of any remaining fully-funded positions. Please note that the organizers cannot guarantee the availability of any fully-funded positions. They have a specific selection process and may have limitations on the number of fully-funded delegates they can accommodate.
In the event of my acceptance as a delegate, what is the anticipated timeframe for receiving the acceptance notification?
The anticipated timeframe for receiving an acceptance notification, if selected as a delegate, will be communicated within 3 weeks after the application deadline.
Do I need climate change education or experience background to be involved in this event?
Individuals with backgrounds in Climate Change, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Economics, Business, International Relations, Environmental Policy, or Public Policy are highly encouraged to apply. We also welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds who possess a strong interest in these themes and a keen desire to deepen their understanding of climate resilience and climate policy.
Will the committee cover transportation and accommodation for the public forum participants?
There is no flight or any transport support and no accommodation will be provided for participants. Participants are responsible for covering all their expenses, including the accommodation, and travel costs.
What benefits do fully-funded AYEF delegates receive?

How many days will the AYEF last?
The AYEF will be a 3 day event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from February 14 – 16, 2025. However, Fully Funded Delegates are required to arrive a day early on 13th February and depart a day later on 17th February.

Is proficiency in English mandatory for participants?
Yes, delegates must be proficient in both written and spoken English as all the sessions are conducted in English.

Business or formal attire is required for all event sessions.

What are the selection criteria for AYEF delegates?
- Individuals ASEAN, Timor-Leste or Japan Nationality, aged between 18 and 35 years old are eligible to apply,
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English is a requirement as most of the sessions will be conducted in English.
- Differently abled individuals are strongly encouraged to submit their applications.
- A foundational understanding of cooperation between ASEAN and Japan related to Climate Change and Climate-Resilient Economy is advantageous. Participation in the course “Basic Climate and Environmental Policy 101” by the AYO Academy is required.
- Individuals with backgrounds in Climate Change, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Economics, Business, International Relations, Environmental Policy, or Public Policy are highly encouraged to apply. However, individuals from diverse fields with a strong interest in these themes are also welcome to submit their applications.
- We strongly encourage those who have led impactful projects at the youth level, especially initiatives that promote youth empowerment and active participation, to register.
What is the difference between “public forum participant” and “delegate”?
Participants will only attend the Public Forum on Day 1, whereas Delegates will participate in all three days of the event. Delegates who are fully funded by the organizers and should attend the entire programs from 13 – 17th February.
What is the typical selection procedure?
- Registration: Aspiring delegates must complete an application form that includes:
- A current CV/Resume or LinkedIn Profile (In English) along with any relevant additional details;
- Complete the online course by the AYO Academy – A certificate number of the course is required.
- Commitment Fee: A non-refundable commitment fees of USD 5 (IDR 80.000) are to be paid before the application submission.
How will I be notified if I am selected for the program?
Notification of the selection result will be communicated to each recipient via email.
How will the findings of the roundtable be disseminated?
The findings will be consolidated into a report and launched at the ASEAN-Japan Young Women Entrepreneurs Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in February 2025.
What is the format of the roundtable discussion?
The roundtable will feature panel discussions, networking opportunities, presentations on relevant topics, and site visits.
What is the primary goal of this roundtable discussion?
The roundtable aims to foster economic resilience and sustainable development for women-owned enterprises in ASEAN and Japan by addressing challenges related to digital inclusion, access to finance, and access to markets.
I just started my startup/company/MSME, am I still eligible to register?
Definitely! As long as you are a young woman who has established profitable businesses, including from MSME industries and social enterprises in the ASEAN Member States and/or Japan or who is the CEO of enterprises using e-commerce or tech startups from urban and rural regions in ASEAN Member States and/or Japan, you are eligible to apply for this event.
As this Roundtable Discussion is the pre-event of the upcoming Summit in February, may I still register for this event even though I’m unsure if I can attend the Summit?
Yes, definitely. You are still welcome to register for the event as long as you meet the requirements.
I am an ASEAN or a Japanese citizen, but currently, I’m not based in ASEAN or Japan countries. Can I still register for this program?
You can, but we only cover flights from ASEAN countries or Japan. Outside these countries, you have to cover the flight ticket.
Do I have to pay a registration fee to register for this program?
There is no registration fee for this program.

How AYO support youth development in the region?
Since the establishment of AYO, we have already created more than 350 projects in Southeast Asia related to Youth Empowerment, Education, Environment, and ASEAN Development. Starting in 2021, when AYO contributed to the development of the ASEAN Work Plan on Youth 2021-2025, an official meeting with International organizations and the ASEAN Member States, where AYO mandated 4 key priorities program which are:

With the mentioned priorities from ASEAN and our cause to support the Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs, AYO is committed to supporting youth development in the region and beyond guided by the ASEAN Work Plan on Youth Priorities and SDGs.
Is AYO under ASEAN?
AYO has been recognised and supported by the ASEAN Secretariat formally since 2018. Since then we have continued support from the ASEAN Secretariat in every project, programme and initiative also we received the approval to add the ASEAN logo and all ASEAN Member States flags to the AYO official logo. The recognition from the ASEAN Prize continued until this year when AYO received the prestigious ASEAN Prize 2024 and is expected to receive the ASEAN Prize 2024 during the ASEAN Meeting 2024 in Lao PDR in front of all the ASEAN Member States leaders. At the same time, AYO is also in the process of submitting a request to be one of the ASEAN entities.
